### Explanation > How we live is so different from how we ought to live that he who studies what ought to be done rather than what is done will learn the way to his downfall rather than to his preservation.

We all have these idiosyncrasies about how the world is suppose to be, rather than how the world really is. Since what happens in reality just doesn't correspond to what our world is ought to be.

Here is a classic example: Every morning while you start your day at work, would you prefer to see pictures of girls showing their ass or Aristotle.

Mostly we all would say no to Girls showing their ass. But the reality is different.

That's how we ought to live, but that's not how we are living.
So if you are a marketer don't show Aristotle on their facebook feed, instead show Kim Kardashians pics or 10 celebrities who drunk and threw up. You will get all the clicks you want and make lots of money.

Same thing applies to Politics.
You cannot be a good honest politician.
Because honest politicians are like the marketers who sell you Aristotle, but no one wants to click on Aristotle.

Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a prince who wants to keep his authority must learn HOW NOT TO BE GOOD, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires.

A politician needs to learn how not to be good.
A honest politician can't go up on stage and say, "Hey if you don't wanna be broke stop sitting in front of your facebook all day and start working. And in long run granted you also work hard and smart you will start to see results.
Would you like that ?
If you do that you will never get elected.
Instead a politician should just go up there and tell the world that how the system right now is screwed up and you will change this one or two things and suddenly we will have lots of money to give out to everyone.

If you do that, you will actually get all the votes and your honest competitor will get none.

Its funny to see when people from outside will always talk about how if they were in charge they would do this and stop that. Like one of the employee once said, if I was in charge i would pay people double of what they get. Well if you were in charge the company would be out of business in 3 months. Thats probably the reason why that person is not incharge.

The vulgar crowd always is taken by appearances, and the world consists chiefly of the vulgar.

All the time you cannot be a good guy and you should not be a good guy; all you have to do is appear to be the good guy. You are dealing with all these people who are watching 10 celebrities that puked last weekend. They are not gonna know the difference.

We look at all these popular philanthropists and think wow they are so great for the world. but they didn't built the billion-dollar business by being the nice guy. They built it by crushing their competition.

Men ought either to be well treated or crushed, because they can avenge themselves of lighter injuries, of more serious ones they cannot; Therefore the injury that is to be done to a man ought to be of such a kind that one does not stand in fear of revenge.

Almost every successful organization you can think of they have almost always engaged in deadly lawsuits and acquisitions to crush their competition.

Princes must delegate difficult tasks to others, and keep popular ones for themselves.
